There was a song back in the early 70s by a guy by the name of Johnny Nash called “I Can See Clearly Now.” You know the one I’m talking about. “I can see clearly now…the rain is gone.” The guy can finally see everything that is in front of him. How does this apply to Internet marketing? Oh baby, if you can’t see in front of you, you are going to sink faster than a rock in a lake. This article will show you some simple ways to clear those obstacles out of your way so that you can see exactly what it is you have to do.
When I first started promoting online, I couldn’t see in front of my nose. Why? Because I had no idea what I was doing, and as a result I was very shortsighted and only looked at the immediate opportunity in front of me. I didn’t look at the whole picture. I jumped from one opportunity to another because I thought it was the opportunity itself that was going to make me successful and not a sound business plan, which is what I needed.
So how do you get past this blind spot that affects almost all Internet marketers when the first start? The first thing you have to do is recognize when something isn’t working. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. I started out posting FFA ads. After a few days when I saw that I wasn’t getting any visitors to my site, I should have realized that posting FFA ads was a waste of time. But I didn’t. It took me 5 months to realize that I was wasting my time. Now that’s what I call being blind. So rule number one is simple, if it doesn’t work within a reasonable amount of time, stop doing it.
Another way to clear your vision is to speak to others. Tell them what you’re doing and ask for advice. Many marketers who have been at this for a long time will probably be able to tell you either that what you’re doing is a total waste of time or that you’re not doing it correctly and offer you some suggestions on how to improve your efforts. Objective eyes can sometimes see things that we can’t. So don’t be afraid to ask others for help. Best place to get this kind of help is at Internet marketing forums. My personal favorite is the Warrior Forum. There are a lot of knowledgeable people that hang out there.
If all else fails, take a break. Go and do something else. Get away from work. Sometimes just distancing yourself from what you’re doing will make all the difference in the world. When you get too close to something it sometimes becomes very hard to look at it for what it is. So go play some basketball or shoot some pool. Just put the work aside for a while and come back to it when your mind is clear.
These few simple tips should help clear things up real fast.
